Some people think they understand so they do not pay attention, which is equivalent to not understanding. The Shurangama Mantra is an efficacious text that ensures that the universe does not destruct. The Shurangama Mantra is an efficacious text that makes sure the world does not end. That is why I often say that if there is just one individual who knows how to recite the Shurangama Mantra on this planet, the world will not be extinguished, and the Dharma will not end. Wait until no one knows how to recite the Shurangma Mantra, then it will be time that the Buddhadharma ends. There are some demons and heretics now who have made up rumors about how the Shurangama Sutra and the Shurangama Mantra are fake. These are sons and grandsons sent by demons and heretics to fabricate rumors so that people will not believe in the Shurangama Sutra and the Shurangama Mantra. By the time that people no longer believe in and recite the Shurangama Mantra, the world will soon be extinguished. If we want the world to not perish, we must recite the Shurangama Mantra and read the Shurangama Sutra soon. If you can recite the Shurangama Mantra every day, then even dangerous atom bombs and hydrogen bombs cannot get near you. This is why you must recite the Shurangama Mantra with a singleness of mind.
