Tao is Not Something We Leave Behind

Life is not about money; life is a priceless gem; it cannot be bought or sold with cash. Unfortunately, most people sell their lives for cheap. They are willing to sacrifice their lives for money. People from all walks of life and every profession are willing to sell their souls, their lives for money. Confucius said, "Universal principles are the nature; nature that is followed is the Tao; the Tao that is cultivated is the teachings. The Tao cannot be left behind, that which can be left behind is not the Tao." According to contemporary trends, we can change this to, "Universal principles are money; nature that is followed is money; the Tao that is cultivated is money. Money cannot be left behind." That is why backdoors [for deal-making] are wide-open, while front doors are tightly shut. Both students and teachers now are working for money. Teachers feel that they do not earn enough so they quit, forcing students to follow this line of thinking and suffer, leading to social disturbance. Professors and teachers are responsible for our society's decline! There are many academies that are bizarre and ridiculous now; they encourage students to take drugs, to be sexually liberated, and to engage in all kinds of illegal behavior. This time and age may be worse than the times of Spring and Autumn, the warring states. People are not the way they used to be in the good old days. Professors actually publicly criticize how that sage was wrong, how that hero was bad, and how that minister was mistaken. In short, everyone else is wrong except for them. Why is this happening? Is it not about money?. People are infatuated with money, sex, fame, food and sleep-the five coverings. They hardly realize that these are the five roots of hells. The first is that one treats money like it is his life. I just talked about this. The second is licentiousness. In many families, husbands have quite a few girlfriends and wives also have lots of boyfriends. They end up in divorce and abandon their kids, who turn into orphans. These kids see how rotten their parents are and they emulate them. The consequence of which is unimaginable. The third is interest in fame. Some people feel that they are not famous enough so they purposely try to stir up their reputation. But by the time their name is known, they die all of a sudden. Take Mao Zedong, for example. He was at the height of fame at one point that he was more powerful than god. Every person in China was waving that little red book, Dalai Lama's mantra couldn't even compare. Although Dalai Lama knows how to recite mantras, his mantras are not so effective when compared to Chairman Mao's. Today the Dalai Lama is still a refugee in exile by his government. The Great Jeweled Dharma King Kamaba was also incredibly famous while alive. He was blessed and anointed everyone everywhere he went. The Secret School is very popular now, many people believe in the efficaciousness of mantras. Every time I go to Malaysia and other places, I notice many people hexed by lamas. Although the evidence of that is clearly before them, people nevertheless want to follow it blindly, which is stupidity beyond belief! Some people say, "Dharma Master, do not insult the Secret School whenever you open your mouth!" Okay, if so, I will not say anymore. The fourth type of desire is for food. Many people spend a lot of effort so that they may enjoy some delicacy or nutritional supplement. The Chinese imperial feast of Man and Han dynasties, with its 108 major dishes, is simply a waste of natural resources. It makes people lose their blessings and longevity. Be careful! You should know that "the superior man sought after the Tao and not food." The fifth type of
desire is sleep. Some people are not greedy for food, sex, fame, or food,
but just love to sleep. They always feel that they do not get enough sleep.
These five desires confuse people so that they even lose their souls!
Being as muddled as they are, they head for the hells! |
