Remembering the Venerable Master’s virtue, Universally turn the Flower Adornment Great Dharma
The Flower Adornment (Avatamsaka) Sutra is the sutra of the Dharma Realm. It is also the sutra of Infinite Space. To the ends of infinity space and pervading the Dharma Realm, there is not a single place where the Flower Adornment Sutra is not present. Any place where the Flower Adornment Sutra is found is also a place where the Buddha is, a place where the Dharma is, and a place where the Sangha of worthy sages are.
──Venerable Master Hua
The Venerable Master Hua deeply understood this inconceivable state of the Great Flower Adornment Dharma and wanted his disciples to begin at the most basic level. He constantly, not just on a daily basis, exhorted his disciples to recite the Flower Adornment Sutra and even to memorize it. In his final instructions, the Venerable Master also clearly said, “After I leave, you can recite the Flower Adornment Sutra and recite the Buddha’s name.” Therefore starting on June 1st, GBM will host a 21-day Flower Adornment Dharma recitation session, hoping to offer everyone the opportunity to steep themselves in the Great Flower Adornment Dharma, understand a little bit of its flavor, and plant limitless good roots.
The Venerable Master has said, “The Flower Adornment Sutra is just like an auspicious cloud in empty space, everywhere illuminating the three thousand great thousand worlds, and like the dharma rain of sweet dew moistening all living beings. Therefore, the disciples with an utmost respectful mind and proper deportment sincerely recite four rolls of the Flower Adornment Sutra daily, in order to cleanse their bodies and minds of defilement and purify the three karmas of the body, speech, and thought with the dharma rain of the Flower Adornment. This is what the Venerable Master had hoped his disciples would do.
